Psychotherapy
People seek out psychotherapy for many reasons and problems. While I have training in helping with many different problems, I do have a few that I specialize in more than others. You may find this useful in deciding if I am the right therapist for you.
I specialize in:
- Mood Disorders (Bipolar disorder, depression)
- Anxiety Disorders (especially Generalized Anxiety Disorder)
- Life Transitions
- Older Adults
- Pain Management
- LGBTQ Life Situations and Transitions
- Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse/Assault
- Crisis Intervention
- Grief Counseling
I believe that psychotherapy is on a continuum and clients vary in their degree of need. I believe strongly that you are the expert of your life and struggles and I am your consultant. But we all have thinking styles that at times may not be useful or productive and cause us problems. I believe that through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy that you can get a sense of how you think and react to the world around you. Once you have those unhelpful thinking styles under control, you may find it useful to go more in depth and explore where these unhelpful thinking styles may have originated. I hope this gives you a good brief introduction to me and my work, and if you have further questions don’t hesitate to call and talk with me.
